Getaway builds unique rental cabins that encourage you to slow down, unplug, and recharge. My wife and I booked one this winter to see what it was about.
It was like most Airbnbs my wife and I had been too, but it had a special touch to it.
We booked the Big Bear Location near Los Angeles, CA (they have close to a dozen location as of writing).

The Location
Our cabin was in a town called “Running Springs”, about 20 minutes away from Big Bear Lake. There must have been 10 or so other cabins on the same plot of land, yet each cabin felt private.
The Big Window
I think this is what makes the cabin special. We had two cabins around us, maybe couple of hundred feet away – but each cabin faces the woods at a slight angle, so you don’t see each other. The window makes for great photos, and staring out into the forest.
The Experience
The intention of Getaway is to get you to unplug from internet devices. We put our phones in a provided lockbox and used them maybe once or twice during the overnight stay. The cabin included books, cards, and a Getaway branded activity sheet we had fun completing.

Should You Book?
Getaway is a little pricey in comparison to other available rentals, but you’re paying for the unique experience and intention to unplug.
